what's heritage have anything to do with racism. now scurry away you racist hater
    By TheDramaLlama 2 months ago
Wasn't slavery a large part of the "heritage" of the Confederacy?
     By zakgotcooties 2 months ago
it was a big part of almost everyone's fucking heritage. pick up a book and read. you'll find out the confederates were not the only people to own slaves in history.

now if you have something of actual value to talk about, by all means. otherwise please, shut the fuck up with your pestering of adolescence

You strike me as being more of a Rohypnol kinda guy.
   By RockyRaccoon 2 months ago
I don't see any black folks in that photo..and the only hate here comes from you!!
   By Halfmoon 2 months ago
This flag has nothing to with racism idiot, but then again I shouldn't expect a troll like you to be knowledgeable about such things.

Besides, it seems it's always you libs who like to throw that word around, so if you want to see racism, go look in a fucking mirror.

   By brown360pride 2 months ago
i agree with every word you posted. this flag symbolized suffering and hatred to many non-whites in the hands of europeans. it is still used to impose racism and foster bigotry by white devils towards innocent minorities.
    By theamerican 2 months ago
The flag is not a racist symbol however, southern racists use it as their flag.
    By Halfmoon 2 months ago
Let me ask you a question brown360pride.

Why do illegals have the tendency to support a political party that brought us the Klu Klux Klan?

     By theamerican 2 months ago
Reality check... the KKK came from the south and was made up of both Democrats and Republicans. It was southerners that were pro-KKK and anti-civil rights. You just have to look at the break down of the passing of the 1964 Civil Rights Act:

The original House version:

* Southern Democrats: 7-87 (7%-93%)

* Southern Republicans: 0-10 (0%-100%)

* Northern Democrats: 145-9 (94%-6%)

* Northern Republicans: 138-24 (85%-15%)

The Senate version:

* Southern Democrats: 1-20 (5%-95%)

* Southern Republicans: 0-1 (0%-100%)

* Northern Democrats: 45-1 (98%-2%)

* Northern Republicans: 27-5 (84%-16%)

It is true that the Republicans were key in passing this bill .....but that is Northern Republicans and Northern Democrats.....where the Southerners were against it.

After this many of the so called Dixi-Crats switched to the Republican party and many of the northern Republicans switched to the Democratic party.

      By RockyRaccoon 2 months ago
SECRET HISTORY REVEALED

KKK's 1st targets were Republicans

Dems credited with starting group that attacked both blacks, whites

Further, the first grand wizard of the KKK was honored at the 1868 Democratic National Convention, no Democrats voted for the 14th Amendment to grant citizenship to former slaves and, to this day, the party website ignores those decades of racism, he said.

http://www.wnd.com/?pageId=441 71

       By theamerican 2 months ago
You are missing the point.....it was southern Democrats as well as southern Republicans. The geographic split of the US during those days was the same as the North/South split of the 1850's and 1860's. This notion that the Democrats were the party of hate and the Republicans the party of civil rights is just plain wrong....it was still southern politics vs. northern politics when it came to racial issues.

I hear this notion all the time from the likes of Sean Hannity when he calls the GOP the party of Civil Rights and the Democrats the party of the KKK and it is historically inaccurate...drives me nuts.

      By RockyRaccoon 2 months ago
In 1840, the very first national nominating convention of the Democratic Party adopted a platform which read in part:

Resolved, That Congress has no power … to interfere with or control the domestic institutions of the several states … that all efforts by abolitionists … made to induce Congress to interfere with questions of slavery … are calculated … to diminish the happiness of the people, and endanger the stability and permanency of the union.

       By theamerican 2 months ago
What is your point.....and 1840 was before the Civil War so I am not really seeing the relevance.

     By brown360pride 2 months ago
halfmoon, to answer your question, that is not 100% accurate. if what i'm conveying is not true then why am i being attacked by so many fronts. obviously what i am conveying is truthful and this flag symbolize "OPPRESSION!" even to this day, the KKK have use this flag on bonfire rallies for pride and intimidation. mr. herb., i challenge you to remove this post!
      By Stimpynarf 2 months ago
I don't follow your comment's logic. Something doesn't have to be true to be attacked...

Actual morons get called morons at least as often as disagreed-with intellectuals...

I thought the KKK used a cross at their rallies, but hell if I know, I've never seen any.

      By theamerican 2 months ago
The US flag symbolizes oppression to some....does that mean this flag should not be flown?
    By Conductor 2 months ago
That's racist senor. "white devils" and "innocent minorities" talk is out-dated BS designed to keep people apart. Are you building bridges or making excuses and looking for someone to blame? People of all colors and types who are hard working honest talented and bold succeed!

mr. conductor has a sound, logical & gifted mind. others should heed and take note.

   By Halfmoon 2 months ago
How about sticking with your own culture before you tackle this one.

You're not even legal by your own admission, so you don't have a dog in this fight.

    By brown360pride 2 months ago
halfman, how about you pulling down your pants and fucking yourself.
   By RockyRaccoon 2 months ago
Kind of sounds like the illegal immigrants I see protesting on TV every night. (not on MSNBC of course)
  By newbtmkent 2 months ago
OK, let's take the heritage argument at face value....

So you're all proud to fly a flag from the losing side of a significant historical war? Does that not make you envious of losers, and in turn, losers yourself?

How come Japanese people don't run around waiving the Imperial Japanese flag? It is representative of their Imperial heritage. Maybe because is represents the LOSING side of the war it was used in.

   By zakgotcooties 2 months ago
hahaha!!

you clearly do not know what you are talking about. you'll just believe anything your told.

    By newbtmkent 2 months ago
Seriously... Is it a nostalgia thing? Does it just represent the "heritage" of the south or does it represent something else?

All I see is that it is anti-American to fly a flag of a group of states that seceded, and ultimately lost the civil war. It is a loser flag. Having been defeated, it doesn't make sense to support the ideals of the losing side.

     By zakgotcooties 2 months ago
flying this flag does not have to mean you support the ideals of the confederacy. hell, the majourity of the people that fly this flag haven't the faintest clue what the confederate ideals even were completely. they fly it because they are proud to let people know where their roots came from.

your just trying to make something out of nothing for the sake of an argument.

      By newbtmkent 2 months ago
No... I'm just trying to grasp this notion...

So people fly the flag to represent themselves as being "Southern" regardless of what the flag itself may actually represent to Northerners; Americans; Blacks; Minorities; etc...?

       By theamerican 2 months ago
The flag itself represents the South and its "states' rights" heritage. It is not a racist symbol, however, racists groups use this flag as their symbolic anti-government symbol.
        By newbtmkent 2 months ago
So how does one (Northerner, etc...) distinguish between those who are using it to represent themselves as a "States Rights" person or one who is a Racist?

It's like me saying I like to run around with a rainbow flag because I just love rainbows. I'm not gay, just a big rainbow fan. You think casual observers would think I'm a rainbow fan, or something else?

         By theamerican 2 months ago
Unless that person threatens you in a fashion that breaks law why should you care? It is a matter of the 1st Amendment and those with thin-skins should get over it.

As far as running around with rainbow flags....so what. Even if I didn't approve of the gay lifestyle, what business is it of mine to stop these folks from waving their flag if they are not threatening me and break laws?

          By newbtmkent 2 months ago
You aren't getting my point. It is all about what the individual flag represents.

A southerner may have fooled himself into thinking it is some heritage / historical thing, but anyone north of Virginia thinks rednecks that fly the thing are racist. It is what this banner is representative of. A matter of perspective, indeed, but in today's society maybe someone can consider decency over their childish efforts to express poor taste.

           By theamerican 2 months ago
"Anyone from North of Virginia thinks...." that is a blanket generalization btw. My point is that the flag is only a symbol that has come to represent multiple issues....one being the independent thinking of the "states' rights" movement as well as one used by southern racists.

The flag itself is not a racist symbol, it is in the context of how it is used whether it becomes part of a racist message or not. The KKK also uses Christian symbols like the Cross....does that mean that all Christian churches are racists?

            By newbtmkent 2 months ago
You know they use a very specific cross to represent their 'white supremacist' ideals. You just overgeneralized all Christians.

People see a cross, they don't think of hatred or oppression.

People see a confed flag the don't think southern ideals of states rights and anti-taxation.

             By theamerican 2 months ago
Oh, now it is a very specific cross...and this is over generalizing...lol. You have over generalized your branding of people in almost every post you made here. Do you even see the hypocrisy of your statements?

People see a .....and don't....so you are saying ALL people....which completely undermines your position in the debate.

         By TheDramaLlama 2 months ago
The fact that you would use that analogy comes as no surprise to this llama.
       By zakgotcooties 2 months ago
a flag is a flag. its not the flag's fault or the people that fly it, that others correlate it to all these 'representations'

no matter what. someone out their somewhere will always have a problem with something. its human nature to be stuck up little pricks in one way or another.

     By Stimpynarf 2 months ago
well, here, I'll ask it this way: Was it foolish to remember the alamo? I mean... They killed them all! The alamo LOST!

Well, I guess it doesn't mean they had the wrong ideals...

Wait... does it?

   By zakgotcooties 2 months ago
next you'll tell me that the only people that wave around the nazi flag are american neo-nazi extremists.
    By newbtmkent 2 months ago
Do you know what happens to German people who waive the Nazi flag around in their country?

I don't ever see anyone flying the Nazi flag because they are proud of the "Heritage" it represents.

     By theamerican 2 months ago
They have outlawed it as well as the book Mein Kampf...seems that they do fear a repeat and are willing to take basic liberties away from their people to support this fear.
      By newbtmkent 2 months ago
Hm... Risk another slaughter of 9 million people by an insane Dictator and his "followers" or allow people to "express themselves" by waiving around a flag associated with hate and murder.

Maybe people should be allow to scream FIRE in crowded theaters to express themselves too TA.

       By theamerican 2 months ago
If the US followed suit then we would ban many forms of free speech which would be un-Constitutional....not to mention that once our government starts eroding certain liberties they tend to go a lot further than originally intended. Is that a good thing?
        By newbtmkent 2 months ago
I don't like the confederate flag as much as you don't like my kind burning the stars and stripes. Both are forms of expression and both represent different things.

I'm all for free speech, but hate speech makes my hair stand up. And then hiding behind the whole "heritage" argument is just lame. The fact is that most people see this relic flag as that of the losing side of the war that represented bigotry, slavery, and hatred.

If southerners want to wrap themselves in that, with all of the attached baggage, so be it. Just know you aren't fooling anyone saying it is pride for one's heritage.

         By theamerican 2 months ago
Following your logic, burning the flag imho is also hate speech. This is a flawed argument.

Waving a symbol that indeed has multiple meanings is not hate speech in itself. A KKK march waving the flag could be considered hate speech....but that is not because of the flag, it is because of the context of who is using the symbol. There is a big difference.

          By newbtmkent 2 months ago
Perspective. To me waiving the stars and bars, or this orange monstrosity, is hate speech. So, too, could be burning the flag.

Either way, I'd prefer all the right-wingos / tea baggers / etc.. to stick to the ultra-patriotic line and post American flags to represent themselves and not something that represents a losing side of a war from the 19th Century.

           By theamerican 2 months ago
Your constant name calling is hate speech as well btw. Do you see the hypocrisy in your discussion?

What people want to say or display as a matter of free speech, what difference does it make what it is or why they are doing it? Seriously, why care? If people want to run around burning the flag or waving a rainbow flag to make their point and I happen to not agree with them...so what?

            By newbtmkent 2 months ago
IF you were Jewish, you'd see why someone waiving the Nazi flag would be a problem.

IF you were Black, you'd see why someone waiving the Confed flag would be a problem.

You can't say that no one should have a problem with how other people express their views because you, nor I, have those kinds of histories. To these people, banners like these are like a constant reminder of their oppression. A poke in the eye.

But they're too sensitive. Skin is too thin. They should just let it all go and move on because it happened so long ago. Right?

             By theamerican 2 months ago
You might but too bad.

You might but too bad.

Come on, if some anti-war protester is burning a flag as part of their exercise of free speech and I don't like it, too bad.

If a gay pride group is waving their rainbow flag in front of a group of pro-life folks....and the pro-life folks don't like it, well, too bad.

You can't have it both ways. We either have the first amendment or we have nothing.

              By newbtmkent 2 months ago
You're mixing ideals with actual people.

Homosexuality or Anti-War ideals are just that. Ideas that people can be for or against.

Gays marching under the rainbow flag never organized and killed hundreds of anti-gay protesters. Anti war protesters aren't killing troops to prevent them from going to war.

Being Black or Being Jewish isn't something that someone can just change about themselves, and expressing hatred toward these individuals is a whole hell of a lot different than saying those Anti-war protesters hurt your feelings.

               By theamerican 2 months ago
You are spinning elements of the discussion making pro-statements on issues you agree and anti-statements against those that you disagree when at the core of these issues they are the same and fundamentally about free speech. This is where you have a lack of understanding of the 1st amendment.

My guess is that you would be for the banning of Mein Kampf but against the banning of A Catcher in the Rye....you can't have it both ways....since banning either one of these books would be wrong.

                By newbtmkent 2 months ago
I'm not for banning books nor am I for stopping people from burning the flag. That is their right.

I'm against people displaying their racist tendencies and hiding behind a veil of history or heritage. It is bullshit plain and simple.

Here is what I'm against... I'm against people lynching black people. I'm against people murdering jews. I'm against any symbolism that represents either of those two things, therefore, I'm against the Nazi flag and the Confederate flag.

Hide behind the 1st amendment all you want, but you won't change my mind as to what these symbols represent and about the people who choose to fly such images prominently.

I prefer the Stars and Stripes personally.

                 By theamerican 2 months ago
Again you are making my point. You can't have it both ways.

Now....connecting speech to killing in the context of now about as ridiculous a comment as you have made in this discussion today. Do you really believe that racist groups are running around killing blacks and Jews today?

You have so miserably lost this debate at this point that I expect you to turn to more emotional comments now.

                  By newbtmkent 2 months ago
History doesn't just go away TA. If a jew looks at the Nazi flag and recalls the atrocity of the Nazi regime, that begets pain and an array of emotions I can't even begin to express.

A black looks at the confed flag and remembers stories of lynchings and burnings.

Does it happen today. God I hope not. That doesn't mean that it never happened and that those events still don't carry strong emotions. You're dismissing these people's feelings because it doesn't happen today.

                   By theamerican 2 months ago
When Christians see lions should they fear Italians? Give me a break. Yea, there was a lot of dark days in history but so what...we are over that and past it and we survive with our basic freedoms in tact....why screw it up now?
             By brown360pride 2 months ago
new, your post is very accurate. it is for this reason, why it is offending the lower life forms. truth hurts huh?
              By zakgotcooties 2 months ago
funny you speak of truth. not much that comes from your posts i find truthful.
     By zakgotcooties 2 months ago
kind of further proves my point. that their are german's that do wave it around. just like i'm sure those 'perfect' people you hold so dear and high over in japan do as well. you just never hear about it due to censorship.
      By newbtmkent 2 months ago
You're fooling yourself. 99.9 percent of both populations have disavowed the flags of their past and that which they represent.

Flying of the loser confed flag is unique to the US. You're fooling no one.

       By zakgotcooties 2 months ago
your apparent lack of looking at all sides is fooling no one as well.
       By theamerican 2 months ago
99.9 percent .... hmm. Got a link to the study that proves this statement or is this simply a made up fact?
        By zakgotcooties 2 months ago
the last time he offered me facts, it was cut right off a website that didn't even support its own statistics with proof.
        By newbtmkent 2 months ago
I'd be willing to gamble on the odds that you can only find 0.1 percent of the population willing to break the law and fly the Nazi flag in Germany.

Find your own damn study.

         By theamerican 2 months ago
If you can't follow through with backup to a statement of fact like that then you can't expect to have anyone really take you seriously in a discussion....I hope you understand that.
          By newbtmkent 2 months ago
So you have discussions with people where you have incontrovertible proof about every statement you make during that conversation? You must walk around with a huge binder full of stats!

Using 99.9% was an expression of how confident I am that the Germans have moved on and abandoned the Nazi flag. I'm pretty confident in that number. If someone can prove me wrong, please do so now.

           By theamerican 2 months ago
I would not use a fact like 99.9% unless I could back it up....why do that? When engaging in a debate about something, it is the goal of both sides to prove the other side wrong and convince the other side of your views therefor, anytime facts like this are used they must be supported...otherwise the debate is nothing more than a shallow discussion and a waste of time (although one could argue that any time spent on Mobog is indeed a waste of time).
            By newbtmkent 2 months ago
I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything.

And yes, this whole site is a waste of time. Here Here.

             By theamerican 2 months ago
lol. Yes it is but it is a fun waste of time when I actually have time to waste.
              By newbtmkent 2 months ago
Problem is I don't have time to waste.

I do consider these exchanges good exercise for my brain though.

   By Stimpynarf 2 months ago
I'd like to point out that, as said best in 'Serenity' "I was on the losin' side. Still not convinced it's the wrong one."

Might doesn't make right. It just makes might.

What if they had another war and it came out the other way? Would that mean the questions that you appear to assume are "settled" would be "settled" the OTHER way? You really can't settle a question of constitutionality through gunfights.

  By sevens 2 months ago
Actually, we are all taught the ideology behind a symbol. A child from the other side of the planet would not think anything when they saw this flag. You would have to teach him/her what to think.

   By newbtmkent 2 months ago
Why would it matter what a child in Indonesia or India think of this flag? The civil war didn't touch them or their ancestors.

Let's keep the discussion in the lower 48 ok 7s? 350 million Americans probably have an opinion about this.

    By theamerican 2 months ago
The point is that symbols can have multiple meanings and require context for their exact meaning.
     By newbtmkent 2 months ago
Then it is the responsibility of those who fly this symbol to explain the exact meaning behind them flying it. Does it have something to do with Heritage, an Anti-Tax stance; or is it blatant racism. The burden is on them. Keeping silent and allowing others to project the intended meaning only leads to misunderstanding.

So.. SmokinHerb. What do you mean by flying this flag today?

      By zakgotcooties 2 months ago
look right below this comment you moron. he already stated it.
      By theamerican 2 months ago
Why? People need to rid themselves of their whining thin-skin and get on with their lives. It seems that when one group get's under the skin of another.....that controversy is born. Just get over it for jeeezus sake. So what if someone is passionate about something you don't agree with and they protest using what you deem as offensive symbols and language......do you want your rights taken away to protest and offend these groups?
       By newbtmkent 2 months ago
"Get over it" is a bad argument to make TA.

Nothing like what has happened to them has ever happened to us. Past tragedies can't define their lives, but it can't be forgotten either 'lest we repeat history'..

        By RockyRaccoon 2 months ago
Who's "us"??
        By theamerican 2 months ago
You really whine a lot. Just face facts, be a man and walk away from one disgusts you. Simple as that. As long as people don't break the law then so be it what they say and wave and burn.

If we were to follow your line of thinking....and do so from an intellectual objective position.....we would not even be able to come out of our homes let alone we offend someone.

Yes, get over it. That is a valid statement at this point.

      By brown360pride 2 months ago
yeah mr. herb, what do you mean by flying this flag today?
    By sevens 2 months ago
Dear newbtmkent, the fact that, as I said, we are taught the ideology behind a symbol is why 350 million Americans probably have an opinion about this.

History is taught, we are not born with innate knowledge. You obviously are unteachable or you would understand my point.

Btw, I'll keep the discussion wherever I want. You might want to kiss my ass, in the meantime.

     By newbtmkent 2 months ago
Thanks, but I stay away from diseased skanks.

Thanks anyway.

      By sevens 2 months ago
You talk like that to someone and object to the Confederacy flag being posted? You are the epitomy of stupidity.
     By theamerican 2 months ago
Wow...going back up the thread it was you that started the emotional train here...lol.

btw, there are about 307million Americans right now, not 350.

  By SmokenHerb2 2 months ago
Wow... The Confederate flag and the southern states wasn't about being a racist it was about unfair taxes dumped on the southern states.

People are getting fed up with the way the government is going so there's a good chance of seeing states seceding again and a very good chance they will use this flag when they do so.

BTW I fly a Confederate flag 24/7 because I'm proud of my southern heritage!

   By newbtmkent 2 months ago
You're an Anti-American idiot for flying this loser flag at your home. It labels you as out-of-touch with reality.

God help you if your state decides to secede.

    By theamerican 2 months ago
Are anti-war protesters who burn the American flag also anti-American since they are burning the core symbol of this country? You can't have it both ways you know.
     By newbtmkent 2 months ago
The Confed flag was created by a group that sought to tear apart our Union. Thus destroying the America that was founded by the fathers and fought for during the Revolution. The thought is inherently Anti-American. Had they succeeded we wouldn't have the America that I love. Hence, my hatred for such a symbol.

Anti-war protesters burning a flag is representative of their dislike of WAR and keeping us and our troops alive and out of the line of fire. At best this is an anti-government expression against the government's need to go to war to achieve some foreign policy goal.

      By theamerican 2 months ago
So what. You can play this game all day but you can't have it both ways.

BTW, there have been two schools of thought going all the way back to the Federalist Papers and the creation of the Constitution....these two opposing philosophies---one of supporting a large central government and the other a loose confederation of states with basic federal support----continue to make up the debate today.

It might have been the two different economic systems of the north and the south or the initial cultures in each of these areas....whatever, but these opposing philosophies still to this day exist along these geographic borders. This argument that goes back almost 300 years is at the core of the polarization of the political landscape today.....one could argue that this debate is as American as apple pie.

The confederate flag sits as one of the symbols of many of the groups on the ideological side of small government....loose confederation of states....and really is nothing more to this group. They are not racists, they are states' right advocates as were half of the Continental Congress.

You need to get over the emotion of all of this and start thinking intellectually rather than simply pulling rage out of your but. Understand the true history behind all of this....read about it. Your eyes will be opened to a lot....not that you will change your mind, but you will get another perspective as to the why.

       By newbtmkent 2 months ago
To some: The confederate flag sits as one of the symbols of many of the groups on the ideological side of small government....loose confederation of states....

To others: The confederate flag sits as one of the symbols of Hate, Racism, Oppression, and Bigotry.

It isn't my place to say that the 'states rights' people are wrong, and it isn't your place to say that the 'racism' people are wrong.

Is that the jist of the argument here? No one is right? No one is wrong? Let's call the whole thing off?

OK. I'm game. I have work to do before I head home.

        By theamerican 2 months ago
To Atheists the Cross is one of the most offensive symbols.....should we close down churches for their pleasure?

To Christians the rainbow flag is a symbol of immorality should we force gays back into the closet and band their flag?

To Muslims the exposed legs of women are regarded as an offense to God....should we force all women to cover up?

This list could go on and on and on......creating one circular debate after another. The point is that we should just all stfu and let people live their lives in freedom, enjoying their liberties to be who ever they want...within the constructs of the law of course....but you get the point.

If you don't like something, turn the channel....don't look at it.....turn the volume down.

herb, it is funny you should bring up the alamo. it was a few rebels / outlaws that refuse to pay their tax to mexico. at that time texas belongs to mexico & the mex -govt allowed white devils to work and farm their lands with govt issued green cards. kind of odd these days to hear, the mex-govt offered green cards to white americans. by all accounts these rebels were outlaws. they kept saying, "we have rights" and refuse to pay, thus provoking the alamo which led to mex-US war. it is this reason why i stated the white devils took our land. land of the natives.

Are you asking Herb to remove this picture of the flag, brown?
    By brown360pride 2 months ago
what part of remove you don't understand?
     By sevens 2 months ago
You mean you want Herb to remove the flag the way you were allegedly removed from America?

"The United States did not invent slavery. The United States invented freedom. Somebody name me a country on earth that ever fought a civil war to make men equal. What other country on the face of the earth has so many laws against discrimination? You can't find one."
   By theamerican 2 months ago
There is truth to this statement. The USA was created with equality in mind even though the institution of slavery existed. It was at the core values of this country that slavery would ultimately be dismantled and it was....unfortunately through war.

Yes, the legacy of this forced abolition of slavery on the southern people did create a culture of hate and resentment....but this culture has been continually whittled down by law until we now have the equality that was sought in the founding of this country.

Ugh. I hate to say it, but wasn't that what France's civil war... er... revolution was about, too?
    By zakgotcooties 2 months ago
if i recall the french revolution started because of the downfall of the monarchy.
     By Stimpynarf 2 months ago
Well yes, but that was freedom-related, n'est ce pas?
      By zakgotcooties 2 months ago
yeah i guess you could say so. however during the revolution they attacked neighbouring countries to gain land, food, and of course money. none the less, the french revolution does not fit the criteria as mentioned above. freedom was really the last thing on their mind when it started. who was going to rule next, desires of wealth, and to prevent famine was more the issue.
      By zakgotcooties 2 months ago
oh, and they most certainly were not fighting for the equality of all man. just for their freedom from tyranny. if it were not for louis the sixteenths lust for war and the depletion of the countries funds, it is very doubtful the revolution would of happened. well at that time anyway. have to remember, before louis the sixteenth, their were only three kings that ruled for over a century and a half.
       By Stimpynarf 2 months ago
well, freedom from government and freedom from kings... I guess i'll take that similarity. I did hear they adopted a similar structure for their constitution-type-thing.
        By zakgotcooties 2 months ago
i know, i heard! and before you know it -snaps fingers- they'll have more rights and freedom than we american's. heh
         By Stimpynarf 2 months ago
Dammit, don't remind me... ~.~

We've been paying off them saving our ass in the Rev for so long... You'd think after both world wars and Vietnam we'd stop chasing after them, eh? :P

    By zakgotcooties 2 months ago
oh, oh! and because of france's near bankruptcy. nothing like good fighting to replenish the countries treasury.

*loots a blood bank*

Well, I guess wealth creation happens with war-industries, too.

    By brown360pride 2 months ago
nicole stop portraying yourself as a useless lapdog & agreeing with others without logical insights supporting their beliefs.
     By nicole 2 months ago
Yes, I'm supporting the belief that this flag was made because of the television show, The Dukes of Hazzard.

Why don't you stop portraying yourself as the "oh woe is me, have pity on me for I am an illegal that got sent back to Mexico" and act like the real drama seeking troll that you are?

     By Stimpynarf 2 months ago
Yeah! Next time someone agrees with a joke, it better be LOGICALLY! :P

For Brown and newbtmkent:

"" ... It will be a glorious day for our country when all the children within its borders shall learn that the four years of fratricidal war between the North and South was waged by neither with criminal or unworthy intent, but by both to protect what they conceived to be threatened rights and imperiled liberty: that the issues which divided the sections were born when the Republic was born, and were forever buried in an ocean of fraternal blood."

- Lieutenant General John B. Gordon, CSA

Some folks today truly believe this and that's what the flag means to them. Slavery had no flag.

After reading everyone's post I have only one thing to say....

"STICKS AND STONES MAY BREAK MY BONES BUT WORDS WILL NEVER HURT ME"

I fly this flag also and will continue to do so.

   By brown360pride 2 months ago
words will never hurt me? tell that to the 2 to 4 kids per year that commit suicide from excessive bullying from other kids in your k12 school system. next time think before you post a comment, otherwise shut your pie hole.
    By RoseOfCaroline 2 months ago
I would imagine that would be the fault of the parents who don't parent. You either teach a child not to bully or you support your child who's being bullied.

However, I thought this discussion was about the meaning of this flag. Oh and I'm not a racist. So stated for clarity.

Here's a suggestion, if you really are an illegal alien (and I doubt you are), and America doesn't meet your standards (as you appear to assert), then if I were you I would be going back where life is so much better.

No one invited you to come here illegally although I'm inviting you to leave because obviously you have problems with being here on our dime!
